MUSEUM TECHNICIAN (PERMANENT INTERMITTENT) – SIERRA DISTRICT / RESOURCES SECTOR / ED Z’BERG SUGAR PINE POINT STATE PARK

The reporting location for this position is Sierra District Headquarters Resources Office, Sugar Pine Point State Park in Tahoma, CA. This position will work under the direction of the Museum Curator II. 

The Museum Technician will assist the District Curator in skilled tasks relating to the documentation, maintenance, and preservation of museum objects in the district’s permanent collection, including: specialized artifact care and cleaning, museum collections cataloguing and registration, collections inventory, and general collections maintenance. The museum technician will also assist the District Curator in training seasonal staff, preparing artifact evacuation plans in preparation of wildfire and flood threats, as well as California Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (CalNAGPRA) repatriation responsibilities as required under AB275. The reporting location is the Sierra District Curatorial Office at Sugar Pine Point State Park in Tahoma. Daily work locations will vary with specific assignments throughout the District.

The work week for this position is Monday through Friday. Occasional weekend or evening hour assignments may be scheduled. Hours are typically 8 am to 4:30 pm. Position may require operating a State vehicle.

Training and Development Assignments may be considered.

This position is designated as not telework eligible.

This position may work up to 1500 hours per year/in a 12 consecutive month period.
